Statement
The images presented here represent a larger body of work I call "botany lessons"; they are images or "specimens", I have collected from the places that I frequent over the past few years. They are from city parks, sidewalk gardens, undeveloped lots, places that are passed by daily.
My work is an exploration of the beauty that is present in the overlooked, in the spaces between the recognizable; I find photographing that which is abundant, but unseen (or underappreciated)–such as lichen, common plants and weeds, even concrete and street markings–to be the most satisfying. It is an opportunity to reveal the world that exists all around us, to connect to the beauty that is available to us everyday.
Each exhibition piece is a unique 20 X 30 inch Epson giclee print that is mounted in a clear resin and is floated off the wall with a backing frame. Limited edition prints are also available in two sizes, 12 X 18 inches and 20 X 30 inches.
Please contact me for availability and pricing.
